4 tips for effective communication in your domestic church

Good morning 🌞

Communication is one of the most important aspects of a thriving domestic church.

Here are 4 tools and tips we use to communicate effectively:

1. Daily walks

We try and go on a walk every day.

(It’s getting cold though 🥶 )

We don’t plan on discussing anything specifically, but we always find ourselves talking about important topics.

We discuss plans, issues we’ve come across, upcoming events, and more.

Sometimes getting the blood flowing is just what you need in order to hammer out a weekend plan or overcome an obstacle.

Walk and talk.

See where the conversation goes.

These walks have become a staple for us and we find ourselves less stressed after them.

2. Shared Google Calendar

Create a shared Google Calendar that you can both add/edit events on.

This makes planning seamless.

We make a lot of plans with friends and family throughout the week, so having this information down in a place we can both access allows us to plan our work and school around these things.

3. Weekly family meetings

We meet for 15 minutes every Monday evening to sync up schedules, talk budgeting, and any other important matters that we need to tackle that week.

This gives us the time and space to discuss things that have come up throughout the week or that we know are coming up that week.

We made this a habit recently and it has helped us a lot.

We find ourselves relieved after this meeting and ready to tackle the week together.

4. Weekly date night

Pick one night of the week that is strictly you and your spouse.

This is date night.

You never schedule anything this night.

Ours is Tuesday.

We might not do anything crazy exciting like go out, but we know it’s reserved for us to spend quality time together.

Give these a try and let us know what you think!

God bless,
Mitch and Taylor
